About Me
- Name: Griet
Griet Dierckxsens (1968, Belgium) has been a professional gypsy for the past twelve years, combining UN aid work with journalism (print and radio). Her creative nonfiction appeared in various papers from New Zealand (The Dominion Post) to Belgium (De Morgen and De Standaard), via Indonesia (The Jakarta Post), and in literary journals such as Turbine, The Spiny Babbler Anthology of the Australian Association of Writing, and Revolver. Her novel ‘Almost God’ was broadcast as a series on Radio New Zealand. ‘Three women of East Timor’, a radio documentary Griet produced on East Timor’s history was broadcast on Radio New Zealand and Soundprint USA. She’s currently living in Ivory Coast – she thought she had to get a taste for Africa after indulging in Asia for so long (over twelve years). Little did she know what she was in for! (Nor did her husband Kamiel, or her toddlers Remi and Niko – read Niko’s weekly letters in Dutch at http://nikoremi.blogspot.com)
